| Adress | The designation of a particular location, usually of a home, home, building, or facility, on the earth. Involves a streetname, housenumber, postal code, city and country. |
| Application | A computer program available to users and which is approached by digital identities. Can be managed or supported by Business Systems. Application types are: Business Application, Personal Application, Office Application, Process Automation, Supplier Application. |

| Bag Label | The standard label that must be attached to any receptacle that is internatiomally sent by surface mail, airmail and S.A.L as required by international regulations. By the UPU defined as CN34, CN35 and CN36, respectively. |
| Barcode | Code of black and white lines or blocks with which provides a product with a unique identifier. For international: Postal identifiers which consist of a sequence of lines, letters and digits to keep track of an item’s location at any time. For single items 3S(Domestic), S10 (UPU) and Commercial barcodes are used. For receptacles UPU issues S9 barcodes and for dispatches S8. |
| Bill | The document automatically printed when you close an international consignmen or dispatch, providing details about the object, the number of different types of receptacles and information pertaining to transit charges and terminal dues. |
| Business Asset | Asset used for the execution of logistic services or business processes. E.g.: sorting machine, roll container, bicycle, truck, hand terminal. |
| Business Customer | A non-natural person who purchases services from PostNL. |
| Capacity | Available capacity of resources and people that can be used for logistic services, expressed per unit of time |
| CO2 Emissions | The C)2 emissions, caused by both the commercial and the postal services, calculated by the type, number and weight of items, the route, the length of air and truck legs and the CO2 factors per distance. |
| Commercial Contract | The in the (commercial) administration of the client (purchase) resp. service provider (sales) fixed agreement between the client and the service provider for the delivery of commercial products or services under further agreed conditions (rates, delivery times, payment terms, etc.). Can be between PostNL and external organizations as between PostNL business units. |
| Commercial Product | The entirety of goods, services, product lines and brands that PostNL/Spring offers to meet an specific need. An individual product consists of the smallest single unit that can be priced, possibility supplemented with extra services. |
| Commercial Operator | The executer of one or more commercial services, called the operator service, in behalf of PostNL. Part of the commercial process |
| Consignment | A set of receptacles using the same trasnport to the same desntiation, but not necessarily from the same origin |
| Consumable Asset | Resource used for the execution of logistic services or business processes. Consumables are single-use or have a limited lifespan and can be easily replaced. E.g.: labels, RFID tags, seals. |
| Consumer | A natural person who consumes products or services for purposes beyond his/her business activity. |
| Country | Country list combing the ISO country code, the continent, the UPU country name and the source. The country list is being updated by the changes, established in the change list. |
| Country code | :Official ISO country list where country codes are displayed. Defined as two-letter abbreviations |
| Customer Order | Customer order is an assignment to Logistics Regie to perform activities that fall under the contract (in the administration of Commerce and NetwerkRegie). The order comes from a Customer and belongs to PostNL. Or comes from Commerce, Retail, or operator in the role of Customer of PostNL. Same as pre-notification. |
| Customs Declaration | Essential forms indicating the content of the parcel whom must be attached to the outside of the shipping box. Used by customs authorities to keep track of which goods are entering and exiting their countries. By the UPU defined as CN22 (packages weighing up to two kilograms with a value up to 425 euros) and CN23 (for packages weighing from two to 20 kilos with a value of 425 euros or more. |
| Delivery Bill | The document, automatically printed when you close an international consignment, listing the receptaclesin the consignment. By the UPU defined as CN37, CN 38 and CN41 for Surface Mails, Air Mail and SAL and Surface, respectively. |
| Delivery Time | The estimated delivery time in days for a packet or letter from the Netherlands to another country in the world. Uses Commercial product and country list. |
| Dispatch | A set of receptacles that go from one location to the same destination at the same time. Contains a S8 barcode |
| Employee | A natural person who performs activities for PostNL and is managed individually from PostNL for this purpose. |
| Event | All existing events , either administrative or logistic, in the standardized and managed data environment. For international post: All events belong to an application used by PostNL or Spring. Commonly defined as a number (TTINT, IPS), an abbreviation (IPC) or a combination of letters and numbers (Collo, XBS) |
| Holiday | Public holidays per country, which are celebrated and which are therefore usually not a working day. |
| Holiday rules | Business rules op en rondom feestdagen die van invloed zijn op het logistieke proces. |
| Import Agreement | The agreement between the country of origin and the country of the destination to send mail of a maximum of 3 kilograms a day. |

| Letter Bill | The document, automatically printed when you close a letter dispatch, providing details about the dispatch, the number of different types of receptacles and information pertaining to transit charges and terminal dues. By the UPU defined as CN31, with the exception of mail with subclass UB (Bulkmail) which is defined as CN32. |
| Logistic Item | A good or postal item in the context of the AVG. E.g. tracked letter, packet, parcel, EMS. Logistic item always contains a barcode/identification and a delivery address. Contains a S10, 3S and/or commercial barcode |
| Logistic Process | The bundling of all logistic services between the point of origin and the point of consumption to meet the requirements of the costumer. For international post: Can be either a postal process, bound to regulations set by the UPU and owned by a public postal operator or a commercial process owned by a commercial operator. |

| Logistic Service | The logistics service is the service offered by the PostNL LSP. Every logistics service has a process. This is the process as performed by the LSP, independent of the operator and operator services behind it. or: A Logistics Service is a bundling of logistical actions, which together form a process, and which lead to a logistical result (such as order picking, sorting, distribution). |
| Means of Transport | Vehicle appropriate for the transportation of products. E.g. truck, plane. |
| Network | The entirety of logistics nodes (Service Locations) and the connecting transport lines between them. |

| Parcel Label | The standard label that must be attach to any parcel that is send by surface mail, airmail and S.A.L, as required by the international regulations. By the UPU defined as CP 83, CP 84 and CP 85, respectively. |

| Terminal Dues | The costs associated with mail going from one country to another. The receiving country request reimbursement for the costs of handling mail for the sending country. Can be parcel bill rates (provided by the UPU), default rates and rates for mails dispatched and received |
| Transit charge | The total costs of mail passing through, divided in handling charge, transit charge and the terminal dues increment. |
