3S(Domestic), S10 (UPU) and Commercial barcodes are used. For receptacles UPU
issues S9 barcodes and for dispatches S8. |
| Bill |
The
document automatically printed when you close an international consignmen or
dispatch, providing details about the object, the number of different types
of receptacles and information pertaining to transit charges and terminal
dues. |
| Business Asset |
Asset
used for the execution of logistic services or business processes. E.g.:
sorting machine, roll container, bicycle, truck, hand terminal. |
| Capacity |
Available
capacity of resources and people that can be used for logistic services,
expressed per unit of time |
| CO2 Emissions |
The
C)2 emissions, caused by both the commercial and the postal services, calculated by the type, number and weight
of items, the route, the length of air and truck legs and the CO2 factors per
distance. |
| Commercial Operator |
The
executer of one or more commercial services, called the operator service, in
behalf of PostNL. Part of the commercial process |
| Consignment |
A
set of receptacles using the same trasnport to the same desntiation, but not
necessarily from the same origin |
| Consumable Asset |
Resource
used for the execution of logistic services or business processes.
Consumables are single-use or have a limited lifespan and can be easily
replaced. E.g.: labels, RFID tags, seals. |
| Country |
Country list combing the ISO country code,
the continent, the UPU country name and the source. The country list is being
updated by the changes, established in the change list. |

:Official
ISO country list where country codes are displayed. Defined as two-letter
abbreviations |
| Customer Order |
Customer
order is an assignment to Logistics Regie to perform activities that fall
under the contract (in the administration of Commerce and NetwerkRegie). The
order comes from a Customer and belongs to PostNL. Or comes from Commerce,
Retail, or operator in the role of Customer of PostNL. Same as
pre-notification. |
| Delivery Time |
The
estimated delivery time in days for a packet or letter from the Netherlands
to another country in the world. Uses Commercial product and country
list. |
| Dispatch |
A
set of receptacles that go from one location to the same destination at the
same time. Contains a S8 barcode |
| Event |
All
existing events , either administrative or logistic, in the standardized and
managed data environment. For
international post: All events belong to an application used by PostNL or
Spring. Commonly defined as a number (TTINT, IPS), an abbreviation (IPC) or a
combination of letters and numbers (Collo, XBS) |
| Holiday |
Public holidays per country, which are
celebrated and which are therefore usually not a working day. |
| Holiday rules |
Business rules op en rondom feestdagen die

| Label |
The
standard label that has to be attached to any mail item or receptacle which
identifies the item |
| Language |

| Logistic Item |
A
good or postal item in the context of the AVG. E.g. tracked letter, packet,
parcel, EMS. Logistic item always contains a barcode/identification and a
delivery address. Contains a S10, 3S
and/or commercial barcode |
| Logistic Process |
The bundling of all logistic services
between the point of origin and the point of consumption to meet the
requirements of the costumer. For
international post: Can be either a postal process, bound to regulations set
by the UPU and owned by a public postal operator or a commercial process
owned by a commercial operator. |

| Logistic Service |
The
logistics service is the service offered by the PostNL LSP. Every logistics
service has a process. This is the process as performed by the LSP,
independent of the operator and operator services behind it. or: A Logistics
Service is a bundling of logistical actions, which together form a process,
and which lead to a logistical result (such as order picking, sorting,
distribution). |

Vehicle
appropriate for the transportation of products. E.g. truck, plane. |
| Network |
The
entirety of logistics nodes (Service Locations) and the connecting transport
lines between them. |
| Office of Exchange |
A post office, belonging to a public postal
operator, assigned to and having special facilities for the interchange of
mail with foreign countries. May be located outside the postal territory of
the Postal Operator, Extra Territorial Offices of Exchange. |
| Operator |
The
executer of one or more logistic services, called the operator service, in
behalf of its own or external director.
For international post: Can be either a Public Postal Operator (Royal
Mail, Poste Italiane, La Poste) or a Commercial Operator (Hermes, DHL, Colis

The

| Transport Leg |

| UPU Standard |
Standards and regulations set by the
Universal Postal Union for the purpose of effective postal operations. These
standard bind the international postal processes with country as members. |
| Verification Note |
:A form that a receiving office generates to
notify a sending office and irregularity with the dispatch, such as
difference between wat was documented as sent and what was actually sent. Can
be associated with dispatch or not associated with any dispatch. By the UPU
defined as CP43. |
